What is the difference between an industrial computer and a normal desktop?

  1. Motherboard

Ordinary computers generally have only one motherboard, which has standard components, such as CPU slots and memory slots. What’s more, discrete graphics cards are inserted into the expansion slots on the motherboard. But now most of them are PCI slots.

Industrial computer is different. It has a larger motherboard, also called passive backplane. There are not many integrated circuits on this board, only more expansion slots. The motherboard with CPU must be inserted into this motherboard. In the slot, other expansion boards should also be inserted on the motherboard, not on the motherboard. The advantage of this is that with the motherboard, the screen can be better protected from external interference, because the working situation of the industrial computer is sometimes harsh and there are more interference, so that the main analysis can work more reliably, and the large motherboard is more reliable. This allows designers to have more options when developing a system, regardless of whether there is room for it.

      2. Power Supply

In terms of power supply, regular industrial computer power supply is different from ordinary power supply. The resistance, capacitance and coils used in it are several levels higher than those used in ordinary households. The load capacity is also much larger. The industrial computer has a embedded whole-machine CPU and memory integrated on the motherboard, using a notebook hard drive, as well as a CF card and SSD solid-state hard drive. The power supply generally adopts 5-30V DC power supply.

      3. Application

The industrial computer has a wide range of applications, and the motion control card is inserted into the industrial computer slot to control the stepper or servo motor system, such as dispensing machine, winding machine, visual printing machine, placement machine, PCB inspection machine, fast and slow wire feeder, laser cutting machine, engraving machine and other equipment. It can also communicate with the PLC module through the serial port, RJ45 and other interfaces of the industrial computer. Industrial computer is also used in building intelligence, security control, fire control alarm, highway and other fields.
